RoHS & REACH Compliant O-Rings

If your O-Rings end up in electronics, equipment sold into the EU, or a supply chain that audits its materials, two European rules usually come up: RoHS and REACH. The O-Ring Store supplies compliant compounds and can provide declarations of compliance on request.

RoHS

RoHS is EU Directive 2011/65/EU, the “Restriction of Hazardous Substances.” It restricts hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The restricted substances are lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBB), polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE), and four phthalates: DEHP, BBP, DBP, and DIBP. A RoHS-compliant O-Ring compound does not contain these substances above the allowed limits.

REACH

REACH is EU Regulation EC 1907/2006, covering the Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals in the EU. It restricts Substances of Very High Concern (SVHCs), which are published and updated on the Candidate List. A REACH-compliant O-Ring compound does not contain listed SVHCs above the applicable thresholds.
